Autumn Term 2

This half term, our learning will be linked to our topic of Manchester! During this time, we will learn about where Manchester is in relation to the rest of the UK. We will study the Industrial Revolution and the effect it had on our local area. In English, we will be studying ‘Street Child’ by Berlie Doherty. We will be writing in role as a character, creating a diary entry and looking at character description

In guided reading, along with looking at a range of texts, we will be studying lyrics from the musical ‘Oliver’ which co-starred the actor, Jack Wild, who attended our school! In maths, we will be covering statistics, multiplication and division and finally area and perimeter. In Music, we will be looking at a range of bands and musicians from Manchester; discussing the literary features of the lyrics. In science, we will continue to study Earth and Space which will include: describing the movement of the Earth, and other planets, relative to the Sun in the solar system, the movement of the Moon relative to the Earth the Sun, Earth and Moon as approximately spherical bodies and using the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky.
